When using the Plex app and watching a live TV channel on my Roku (Model: 3710x - Roku Express+, Firmware: 9.4.0 build 4200-28) and I try to tune in the same channel on either of my Shields (2017, 2019) the channel will not tune in. It will prompt me to either watch live or start from past then regardless of which option I pick it just goes into the spin of death. I have tried tuning a channel on my laptop and then on the Shields and that works. I have also tuned the same channel on both Shields and it worked. Also if I tune in channel on Shield then try to tune same channel on Roku both devices will work. Again however if I switch to a different channel on Shield then back to same Channel on Roku it goes into the death spin.

Hi @MoonPie I actually brought this up a couple months ago to a Plex employee and he assured me that they were able to duplicate the issue and we’re going to work on a resolution but it hasn’t been implemented. I’ll tag someone here momentarily and see if they can work on a resolution. It’s easily duplicatable:).

Hi @ljunkie the problem this user is having has been going on for quite some time, I think about a year-and-a-half now. Can’t watch the same channel if a Roku and Nvidia Shield(Android) are on the same network. If the Shield and Roku are on separate Networks( one remote, one local) then it works. When you get a moment I had brought this up to sixones about I think two months ago but haven’t seen anything since. Thank you !!

Thanks JasonsPlex for the confirmation that it is not just me  Now if Plex could kindly acknowledge this as a bug, however their mysterious way works for acknowledging bugs, and fix it that would be great.

@MoonPie sorry not sure why they’re not replying. They get like this sometimes. I think they’re either too busy or it’s just very low on their totem pole of issues. But it’s been going on for so long I don’t understand why they don’t fix it. So I have a solution for you!! If you have a guest Wi-Fi network option on your router go ahead and enable that and put your roku’s on the guest Wi-Fi, this will create a separate Network for the roku’s which will make them remote. You do have to enable remote Network on the Plex server. This will allow you to tune the same channel with the Roku and the Android devices. It’s just when they’re on the same network it doesn’t work.

Thanks JasonsPlex I will try that… At least you reply and give some help unlike the Plex. I have had several issues like this (non reply/acknowledge) with Plex and this is when I start to look at Emby and fast approaching viability JellyFin. I really wish Plex would start some sort of tracking for reported issues. I would not care the priority so much, of course my issues are always the most important, but it would be nice to at least see that they are acknowledging the issue.

Yeah they have an internal tracking system that we don’t get to see. But I agree they need some type of tracking system other than forums.
