Can Plex Play a RTP Streams?

Hello,

With the assistance of a few forum members, I have written an App that will play some IPTV streams my ISP provides.



These streams are by default, RTP streams. (i.e.: rtp://@bloomberg.iptv.tpg.com.au:1234)



However, using the following method:



dir.Append(<br />
            WebVideoItem(<br />
                rtp://@bloomberg.iptv.tpg.com.au:1234,<br />
                title="Test Title",<br />
                subtitle="Test subtitle!",<br />
                summary="Summary text goes here",<br />
                thumb=thumb<br />
            )<br />
        )


Things don't work! Where am I going wrong? Can Plex handle RTP streams? What streams can it handle?

Bump… Anyone written or seen an app featuring RTP:// streams?

The buzz around the community says that Plex can’t handle RTP streams. I’m not 100% sure, but it seems very likely.

That makes me a sad panda.

BUT if I change the protocol from rtp:// to udp:// the VideoItem object seems to be able to stream the image :smiley:

Mike, would it be possible to change your plugin to accept custom UDP strings? Or could you give me an example of the playlist format used? That way I can make a plugin for my local TV company :slight_smile:

Hi, sorry to bring this topic on again, but as IPTV gets more and more popular, I really would like to see a TV plugin for plex. My local ISP streams IPTV over rtp streams, that I can open for example with VLC media Player. I would love to see a rtp plugin :)

Any new ideas on TV for plex?

agreed!   I just had fiber optic installed and was informed that it is IPTV .  Still trying to figure out if I can stream my channel lineup through my htpc.  No clear cut instructions to be found on this.
