Can .plexignore ignore an entire TV series?

If it can, I cannot figure it out.

My .plexignore file is named correctly and (I believe) has the correct contents. It is the same file I use in a handful of Music directories to ignore entire albums. Contents are simply *.

When I use it in an album directory it ignores everything in that directory. For example, when placed in the main directory /mnt/user/MUSIC/Bob Dylan/The 1974 Live Recordings (2024) Plex successfully ignores the entire album, “The 1974 Live Recordings (2024)”. There are no other directories under this one; only files.

However, when I place the .plexignore file in a main TV Episode folder, PLEX will not ignore anything until I place the file in the individual season folder. So if I place the .plexignore file in the main directory /mnt/user/TV/Bob's Burgers nothing happens. If I place it in /mnt/user/TV/Bob's Burgers/Season 01 then Season 01 is ignored.

Do I really need to place one .plexignore file in each season folder to ignore the entire season? My guess is that I need add/change the contents of the .plexignore file but I can’t figure it out. Appreciate any help on this one.

In /mnt/user/TV/ you should be able to add the .plexignore and add a line for each item you want to ignore.

*Bob's Burgers*

That did the trick. Thank you.

One word of warning though. To anyone reading this in the future: DO NOT copy and paste a .plexignore file with the contents * into any main media folder. You will have a very bad time. Edit the file first.
