Can Scanner display the filename as is?

Foreign filenames.

Hi There,

I'm new to Plex (previously using XBMC). I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this.

I have stacks of video that I can't rename therefore I can't follow the naming convention. These video are mainly for the Mrs. She watches a lot of Japanese Day time show. She managed to get them from all kind of sources japanese, korean and chinese sites.
So all the filenames are unrecognizable to me.

I have thrown all the video into a directory that:
JTV
- (2009.11.11) Best House 2hr SP.avi
- (2009.12.16) 99+ SP [XviD 704x396 mp3]
- (TV バラエティ お笑い) 2009 0824 しゃべくり007 2時間SP 唐沢寿明 ベッキー オセロ中島 チュートリアル ネプチューン他.avi
- [大河ドラマ] 龍馬伝 第01回 「上士と下士」(BS-hi 1280x720 x264-AAC).mp4
- 20120112 비밀의 아라시짱! SP - VIP리무진 나카마 유키에.mkv
- London Hearts
- London Boots Xmas SP 091226.mpg
- London Hearts - 2009-11-24.avi
- London Hearts (2009.08.25).avi
- ...

I have create a combination of profiles (ie: Movies|Plex Video Files Scanner|Personal Media, TV Shows|Plex Series Scanner|Personal Media Shows). But most of the video files gives me *yearBreak* as the name.
Note: there are some scanner logs in the back windows in the screenshot. Not sure how much you get out of it.


Is there way to create a custom scanner to not-do-too-much to get the videos into PMS and display the filename as is?

Put them in a personal media section and then client side view them with the "by folder" filter - should do exactly what you're after. :)

When you select Personal Media as the primary agent, the title for the file should be the filename, without extension. Otherwise there’s a bug.

I double check my settings, they all seems correct.

After awhile, I have decided to delete all my Sections in Media Manager and recreate all the Sections.

This time with the correct setting from the beginning. Now all the filenames are coming thru.

Previously I was clicking on the Edit Section (bottom right correct), which doesn’t seems to change the update (even after holding Shift-click on the Refresh button).

It looks like a User error and I feel like an idiot.







So far all good, I just need little bit more time to reorganise my file structure.
