I’m wondering what media play priority is in Plex?
I read somewhere that Plex will normally choose the higher resolution source material, but I don’t know about when the source material is the same resolution.
So, if you have two 1080p movie streams, and one is 14GB, and one is 8GB. Which one does Plex pick?
Does Plex prioritize TV show playback on repack and proper so they play first? If you have the same episode in the same folder?
I had a proper with the same bitrate that I added later that plex played first. So, I don’t necessarily think the last statement is correct.
Ok, I forgot to add “everything else being the same”. Plex will also favor a file if it can be direct played versus a file that needs to be transcoded so if you have a 10Mbps H264/AAC/MP4 file and a 10 Mbps H264/AAC/MKV, the MP4 would be selected since very likely the MKV would need to be remuxed.
I would need to know the details of each video to make a better answer but this is how Plex is suppose to work.
It wasn’t specific files it was just a general question for understanding.
