I have enabled trailers and it works fine, but I was wondering if there is now a way to have the DTS sound video play before each movie
+1
This is a totally unnecessary feature but would be really cool if it was implemented. This would complete the 'Home Theater' experience!
maybe an option to have a "preroll" video clip for all movies. I, personally, would pick the old 90's "THX sound" video, but that's just me
That is exactly what I thought would be cool; to have the DTS video to show off the surround sound system before the movie starts. I am sure it could be done manually for each movie using the new extras features, but will have look at the instructions for local extras more carefully.
+1 i recently found a bunch of good DDTrueHD and DTS-MA trailers that i'd love to have it play one of before watching something.

Where would I find such videos?

Exactly...there are several threads about this already, however this is exactly what alot of people would like to see.
Chris C has mentioned that it's upcoming because there is a hack/workaround to do it, but the way people implementing it could have adverse affects..
On some of the more epic movies of yesteryear, I would like to have two video clips run..one of the THX ones and one to represent the sound being utilized in the actual film...e.g. DTS-HD or TrueHD. I've found 13 different video clips comprising of THX, DTS, DTS-HD, TrueHD and Dolby Digital that I would like to use. Links to find them below.

Thanks Tobias, that's a great addition and we all appreciate the hard work you guys did for getting it out in short order :D
That said, and I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, I was really hoping that we would have more granular control over this feature. This is sort of a one size fits all approach and while it's nice, I hope that it's tweaked in a future release so that we can specify a different trailer or trailers for each movie using the same functionality that has been implemented in the server settings page, on the movie details page..
For example, I would love to put one of the few THX sound cinematic trailers in front of something like one of the Star Wars films reminiscent of what I experienced back in the day of seeing it in the theater, but also add one of the DTS-HD cinematics as well to illustrate an actual representation of the sound track that is in the film I'm about to watch.
Other films that are not as 'epic' as Star Wars I may not want a THX sound cinematic in front of, but instead just a Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital TrueHD or even just a DTS one in front of to represent what the films sound track is.
I know there is a work around (perhaps there is more than one) by putting the cinematic into the same folder as the movie and using a naming convention of moving name-year-part1.mkv (for the cinematic) and part2.mkv to get them to play in order, however the scanner often picks up the separate files as a different instances of the movie and separating it out to where you have to manually merge them. Also having to manually edit posters at times as well... a big pain for large libraries.
Thanks again for all your hard work guys!
That would be awesome, would also hope that Plex would mirror the XBMC Cinema Experience and allow you to add in multiple videos in any order in the form of idents, ads etc. I think customisation is what's needed to add the almighty wow factor. That being said, what has just been added is great in itself, so kudos to the Plex team :)
Superb Tobias! Thanks!
So pre-roll has been added, but as above, it would be cool if we could specify individual pre-rolls based on the Audio track format (ie: a DTS demo for DTS soundtracks, a DD demo for DD5.1 etc etc).
Loving the latest updates though! Makes that PlexPass all the more worthwhile :)
Which link do I use on the extra page? I am trying to use the "hd_dolby_digital_plus-DWEU.m2ts" off my local drive, but that isn't working.
(how about a feature to dump sugary soft drinks and popcorn all over the floor and maybe the sound of several babies crying, and perhaps some funky smells too)
:D

As mentioned in the support article, the trailer your trying to use needs to be already in your library, meaning Plex has to have had indexed it already. For me, I created a whole new library for my cinematic trailers and just labeled it as such. Then you go to the Plex home page (https://plex.tv ) and login to your server from there, find the video that you want to use, go to it's detail page and copy the URL there as depicted in the support article and paste it into the pre-roll section. You can't use the link from when your browsing your media manager locally e.g. http://localhost, it has to be the URL that starts with plex.tv.

I feel like a moron here.. but the support article (and you) mention to go to the detail page. What is the detail page? Is it the main page when you open a video that allows to mark watched/unwatched, fix incorrect match, etc? or Is it the info section of that file?
My point is there's nothing clearly labeled "details"

I want to do 3 things here:
1) Give a COLOSSAL thanks to the Plex guys for the latest Trailer and pre-roll implementation. My suggestions (and others') regarding improving the experience were so promptly and awesomely implemented. I am absolutely over the moon.
2) Echo the sentiments above -- have the ability to use a DTS (or DTS-MA) intro for DTS movies, a DD or TrueHD intro for DD films, etc. Things like a THX intro would be more complex, as it wouldn't relate to the media info.
3) Ask that we be able to at least vary the pre-roll video. Having one pre-roll vid would get old quickly. Essentially, do something similar to what was done here.
