The Xbox one output setting Db is far too loud over HDMI and Optical. Whether this is down to your app or the Db output over HDMI,optical (I think it is the Xbox one audio out level Db is too high personally based in similar audio output from Ms DLNA media player)
@ A volume of 17 on my TV it is far too loud for 17 (vol goes to 100) 38 should not even be that loud. I’d estimate that I should really need to turn the volume to 50+ to get the same output it’s pushing out at 17 for music video playback, movie whilst playing either through PLEX or the Xbox one media server.
It is also too loud at lower volume levels via optical out DTS and DD on 2x sets of z5500, 1x z5450 5.1 set & 1 x Z-906
So please can you add a volume control, a db level or something to the app to stop the horrendous overload/overblown sound at lower volume levels. It should not sound that loud until I turn everything up.
Even if it were like how android volume controls plex sound levels to Xbox when casting etc.
Thanks.
However in case some complain that theirs is too quiet so maybe add like xbmc has used for years default 0Db and allow it to go -12db to +12db or whichever number is safe in the + range

Interesting, I actually find it too quiet at times.
I was aware prior to asking that some users have reported a too quiet scenario.
I’ve requested for well over 1 year now to Ms to say what level it’s set at or for them to have an adjustment or even just fix it. It can’t be 2 xbox ones and all my speaker tv sets at fault.
Cannot use this on xbox one anymore without a volume Db control. I have to turn my amp down to less than 4 bars instead as the peak level is all wrong far too overblown and it looks like it’s not going to get a volume control so there is no point in using it anymore on xbox one
I am outputting the XBOX One via HDMI and Optical with LPCM (7.1 on HDMI and 2.0 on Optical). No Volume issues on my Yamaha Receiver. Dolby Digital Sound is equal volume as bitstreamed from a Windows PC.
Bitstream from an XBOX/PS4 is sadly not true bitstream yet, it will come with the Q1 2017 Update for XBOX One. Maybe it will fix your issues as well.
It won’t. As Microsoft have probably stuck to only allowing hdmi and not optical to make use of the new pass thru settings which I assume I already have as I’ve got the march preview and no further options appear and it’s still too loud using z5500 optical in with xbox one apps, everything else I use with z5500 Opt in including my PS4 with bitstream is fine but as ps4 also has a volume control if i needed to I could control volume anyway. I just hate the way plex looks on the ps4
Is there any chance of adding volume to the Xbox One Plex app? Spotify has it (through the Xbox dashboard), and it would be really practical if the Xbox One Plex app also added this …
