I just added a HDHomeRun EXTEND to Plex DVR where I previously only had a HDHomeRun CONNECT. So I can record 4 channels now. I would really like the first 2 recordings to take place on the EXTEND (since it has hardware encoding) before the CONNECT is used. Is there a way I can set which tuner gets used first in a multiple tuner setup?
Congratulations on the Extend. And now for the bad news. There is currently a bug that prevents most (and I think all) individuals from accessing any tuners above two simultaneously unless you are using an older version (1.6.1.xxx). You can search the forum for the exact version as I can’t remember.
That said I do believe when it does work it will select in the order you add them into the DVR (or the reverse) so you can do a quick test to figure out the prioritization and then just add the tuners in that order and it should take care of itself.

Thanks for the bug info. Also I did find that the order Plex uses is oldest to newest added tuner (for anyone that is curious). So I have temporarily deleted my Connect.
Just as an FYI, there is a thread on the forum that discusses a method of modifying the tuner priority. It basically requires manually editing the tuner data in one of the database tables to make the tuner you want used first have a lower ID number in the table than the other tuners.
There is also a forthcoming release that will hopefully resolve the multiple tuner issue for everyone as another Ninja has mentioned on other threads.
