I have downloaded the latest plex update and now when I try to add a device it asks for the 4 digit code (as it always has) but when I go to plex.tv/link and sign in it also asks me for the 4 digit code. Where am I supposed to get the 4 digit code if not from my account?
I am the owner of the server btw.
If you’re talking about linking a device to your server, when you launch Plex on the device, it should give you a 4-character (not just digits) code, which you take to plex.tv/link.
If you’re talking about your user PIN, that’s the 4-digit code you create on your user account. That has nothing to do with linking a device to your server.
I added plex on my smart tv and when i Load the app it asks for the 4 character code. I have not signed in and no where on the app does it ask for my sign in. It just says (at the top) Connect to Plex followed by Open a browser on your PC, surf to (link) and enter this code: followed by the 4 spaces to enter the code
This is really about how the link (https://plex.tv/link) doesn’t display the code needed to login.
This is all moot. My tv lost connection to the internet so it wasn’t giving me anything to type in but it looked like it wanted me to type in a 4 character code instead of trying to display one with no data. Sorry about that.
