Cannot boot 9.9.16

I'm trying to figure out why 9.9.16 won't boot at all.

As I am using a low-amperage power adapter (an old 700mA Blackberry adapter which has always worked, even on 9.9.15), I am wondering if the culprit could be the adapter itself.

If you are successfully running 9.9.16 (by successfully I mean that you manage to boot and launch rasplex), which adapter are you using?

how many volts are your pi getting? that is equally important.

5V as per the recommended specs. I have been using this adapter since the very first version of rasplex without any issues. I’m getting a new one tomorrow with a higher amperage to see if it solves the problem.

Did you measure the voltage or did you just read the numbers on the power supply?

most 5V power supply only get 4,7-4,8V to the pi. mine is rated 5,25V and using a 1m standard usb cord only gives 4,9V to the pi, but wit a 0,5m quality cord it delivers 5,15V to the pi.

i haven't had any problems since i bought this supply.

You are probably right…

The new supply I got (rated at 5V but I did not test it) makes Rasplex 9.9.16 boot but then I experience Ethernet dropouts every minute.

9.9.15 works properly only with the Old BB adapter, which probably outputs a proper 5V.

So to recap my situation:

BB adapter (5V 750mA)

9.9.15 OK

9.9.16 No boot

New adapter (5V 1.2A)

9.9.15 sluggish, Ethernet drops out

9.9.16 more frequent dropouts

On today’s shopping list: a tester!

Maybe you just need to invest in a 2A adapter. i use one and it's rock solid.

I will for sure!

I tested the adapter, it outputs a steady 5.09 V.

Still, the Ethernet connection drops out every once in a while. Funny enough, this happens only in the menus, never during playback.
