Cannot Claim New Server

Server Version#: 1.22.2.4282
Player Version#:

Hello -

Background:

I have had a Plex server install for several years on a Win10 Machine. I decided to put together a new server using Win10 and all new parts. Everything seemed to be working fine until one of my users informed me that their user showed no media other than the Plex media.

I logged into my computer and sure enough. everything shows up fine for my/admin user. but as soon as I switch to any other user theres no content.

After messing with stuff for a bit I decide to reinstall Plex.

Current issue:

as stated above I reinstalled Plex. I remove the appdata and registery entry. Now when I log in locally I cannot claim the server. I press claim and it just sits there nothing happens. ive tried multiple browsers and nothing works.

If I log onto the server using the local ip and the inside local port from another computer. I can reach the server. Without me logging into my user it shows some media there it even plays. However, if I log into my Plex account it all goes away and it says I need to claim the server. Clicking claim results in the same as above.

If I use my routers DDNs name + outside global port, I can reach my Plex account though it shows no media and says I dont have a server. If I use my public IP + outside global port - I cannot reach the server.

Ive turned off all windows firewalls. rebooted my router. looked at the portfowarding rules. everything is kosher

If I boot up the old machine. The Plex server works perfect. Just like it always has. its even using the same default upnp settings as the new machine.

The only things in my logs are -

I know this is long winded and what not so the TLDR. Cant claim new server when clicking claim it just sits there.

I have the exact same problem, but on a Synology NAS. Created a topic for it earlier today. No solution found yet.

Basically reinstalled from scratch because of reasons, can’t claim.
And this post is more “I would like to follow tis topic” :stuck_out_tongue:

You cannot use either. You have to use your server’s local, private IP address for claiming your server. Only after this is done successfully, you can use one of the other options.

And you will only be able to do it, if you open the web browser either on the same machine or at least in the same private(!) network as your Plex server.

I was just giving troubleshooting steps and observations.

It doesn’t work on the same machine at all.

BTW. you might be able to solve your issue by removing the server from the allowed devices list.
