Need help - Cannot claim server

Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.24.5.5173
Player Version#:
Hi anybody,

I am unable to claim server and I cannot understand why. I have done a fresh install of Plex after uninstalling the old copy (including registry entries) and even created a new account but with no luck. I am simply trying to stream some video files off my PC but because I can’t claim the server, nothing is working.
I can add my media folders and I can link my television to my plex account, the only thing that doesn’t seem to work is the function to actually claim the server.
I’m on the latest update of Windows 10 and I have new PC (Intel(R) Core™ i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz).

Can anybody please offer any suggestions to get this working? PLEASE!

It is also important to note that I have been using Plex successfully for years without issues until now.

I too have been having this issue since the last day or so, running PMS on an RPi4 on Rpi OS, every reboot it says I need to reclaim my server.

You have to be on the same network as your server to claim it. If you are remote, or not using Private IP addressing, you’ll need to use a SSH tunnel (see Installation support article).

Try using a incognito browser window to avoid issues with cookie/ad blockers. If on the console, point it at http://127.0.0.1/web or http://localhost/web. If on a different system on the same network, substitute the IP address of your server.

Also, see these support articles:

Hi FordGuy,

I am installing Plex on my PC (C drive) and the same PC holds the files I am trying to stream (D drive). It’s a basic windows 10 pc…nothing fancy about it.
As per your suggestion, I tried using an incognito webpage to claim my server but the results are the same. Nothing happens and the server remains unclaimed.
I also had a look at your attached articles and tried a couple of things…still nothing.
