Cannot connect to local Plex server without internet connection

Server Version#: v1.29.2.6364
Player Version#: n/a

I’ve recently moved, and have my LAN + all devices set up and running, but I’m still waiting to have my internet connection hooked up. That’s fine—I have a local PMS instance running and a couple terabytes of films + TV shows: should be fine, right?

Except when I go to http://[server-ip]:32400/web/, I get an error informing me that ‘Plex is not reachable’ because ‘We are unable to connect to plex.tv at this time’.… which makes sense, I guess.

Is anyone aware of any workaround for this? I’m sure this didn’t used to be a problem way back in the mists of time.
(because, honestly: what’s the point of having a local media streaming solution if it requires an always-on internet connection)

Scroll down to allowedNetworks

With PMS stopped,
Go into the Preferences.xml file with a text editor (vi, gedit, etc)

On the last line, before the closing />, add base IP address and subnet mask , eg, allowedNetworks="192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0"
or however appropriate for your existing lan addressing.

Now start the server.

Confirm all OK by opening the server by it’s LAN IP.

You will likely need do the same for the clients

Awesome, that works—thanks so much!
