Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554-le5ff713d
Player Version#: N/A (Using Localhost for now)
So After Installing the Server and Client it Worked Initially. But after a week my player just stopped connecting. since then i have reinstalled the server several times and each time the server starts and is visible in the Task Manager but is Not in the Task Bar. and i cannot connect to it locally
I Checked the Logs but nothing. additional issues arose when i deleted them to regenerate new ones and no new ones appeared.
I Tried Connecting from Other Devices but to no avail. it just would not let me connect.
After using the Installer to “repair” it it generated a few logs that are available here.
I have no Idea What might be causing this issue. in fact i went as far as deleting every single file plex had uninstalling everything and even cleaning logs. yet after another clean install it still wont work. im at my witt’s end.
Everything? Including the path %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server ?
Deleting this folder will also delete your pms database.
You may consider backing up your db first. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\\Plug-in Support\Databases
yes. everything. my actual database including all of my Files is on a different drive. They are located on my 6TB Raid device which i just use to keep the data. i then just change the directory for PMS to saves to which then recovers all the previously generated data.
Another Point which i think is the more likely Culprit was that when i initially installed PMS and set it up it was working fine. but then i had to change the drive letter from D: to X: and it stopped working. so i uninstalled it but i think there might be a registry entry or some piece of config data that isnt found on the file system that sets the directory of the Database and it must still be pointing at the old D: folder. I couldnt find any registry entries with RegEdit but i cannot think of any reason why it would fail otherwise.
SOOOOO. Update…
After writing that all out i decided to just try and change the partition back to D: and see if it worked. Low and behold it did and i was able to change the Libary location to X:. after i restarted the server it wouldnt let me access my libary or even show the server as online. so i quickly changed the drive letter back to X: and it worked again.
I wonder why the server didnt just show up as not avaliable when it was still pointing at the D: drive.
However even after a Server restart even though i can now access my media i cannot change the server settings:
So after some Fiddling it seems i had to change to D: and start plex. Change the plex path to X:. restart the pc. restart the pc (plex was no longer working) change the Drive letter to X:. Restart the system again and then Finally it connected. Sorry for the Inconvenience.
