I have newest version of everything and for about the past month I haven’t been able to watch anything. I get the unable to connect to content server notice or I get the spinning wheel of death and it never starts or it starts and stops after a few minutes of playing. I use to have no issues at all and be able to watch what ever movie I have downloaded please help?
- activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
- quit Plex Server using the task tray icon
- wait 1 minute
- start Plex Server
- wait 2 minutes
- try to play one movie
- wait 3 minutes
- fetch log files and attach them here
so when I did everything you listed and try to get back to plex on the computer it does this and freezes
Which step did you manage to reach?
There is a way to reach the server logs even without the server running.
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417
jusr scroll down on the article.
Please ZIP the whole folder.
When I went to locations listed on article all logs were from 2018 or at least that was date last modified next to all of them. I’m restarting my computer now one sec
is this what you need
Which file system is drive D: formatted with? Is this an internal drive?
Please disable ‘Verbose’ logging and repeat the procedure.
D is second internal hard drive
movie crashed on this one
Plex Media Server Logs_2019-07-04_14-48-07 when movie crash.zip (2.6 MB)
You still have ‘verbose’ logging enabled. Your logs are unfortunately useless that way.
Perform the full procedure from above, including stopping and restarting the server.
where do you go to turn that off I have the one under debug off
Debug must be ‘ON’
Verbose must be OFF
If you don’t see it, it means you are in the wrong section or you don’t see the server settings at all.
download this zip archive, close plex server, extract the reg file and double-click on it, to make the relevant setting directly in the Registry.
debuglog.zip (349 Bytes)
These are the settings for the Web Client.
We need the settings for the server, which are below, under SETTINGS - General - Show Advanced
Then you might have forgotten to quit Plex server and restart it.
ok so what I need to do now?
- Close Plex
- close any ‘Registry Optimizer’ or ‘Cleaning’ software you might have running (CCleaner etc.)
- uninstall Plex server
- download the latest Plex server version and install it to the default location on drive C: (this will be only 164MB, your plex data will stay on drive D:)
- reboot Windows
default is d I dont have default for c any particular place I should put it ?
