Cannot detect 2nd part of movie

Trying to up Storm of the Century (1999), a 2 disc movie, to Plex. I followed the instructions for naming, using literally every combination the support page suggested: movie (year)/movie (year) - ptx discx diskx partx. tried giving different names and merging, plex DELETED the second file from the list (splitting did bring back). All instructions for linux software to merge all have complicated instructions that a beginner in linux can’t yet understand.

3 hours and a burned dinner later, no closer to a fix.

I’d look into joining the two files via MKVToolnix.

FWIW the version of Storm of the Century I have it a 3 episode miniseries, named according to thetvdb entry.

You will not get metadata for a series in a “Movie”-type of library and vice versa.

It’s a mini series, not a movie.

Your best bet is to identify the 3 parts. Split the files if required, don’t merge them.
Then add them to your series library, suitably named for a series.
