I am remote user on a Plex server. The owner of the Plex Server is running version 1.25.0.5282 on an QNAP NAS, and has a lifetime Plex Pass. They have enabled my account to allow downloads. I recently just purchased a 1 month Plex Pass. It seems as thought the Pass is working because I can skip intros, but I cannot download ANYTHING. Is this a Plex Pass issue? Am I doing something wrong? I cannot download on my PC or my Mac using the desktop app.
Following…
Which exact app are you using?
Apologies if this is obvious to you… there’s quite a number of desktop clients and only one is covering Downloads.
Client app | Supports Downloads | Remark |
---|---|---|
Plex Web | ![]() |
|
Plex Media Player | ![]() |
about to be replaced by Plex HTPC |
Plex HTPC | ![]() |
|
Plex for Mac / Windows | ![]() |
Edit:
Assuming you’re using the “correct app”… where exactly are you getting stuck?
Do you get to see the download button but downloads fail or is this feature completely missing?
Hi tom80h
I the server owner that the OP is on. He’s using the Plex for Mac app. He also does not see ANY option on any media to download. The button simply isn’t there. He has a plex pass. I have a lifetime plex pass. His user has downloads enabled on my end.
@Matthewjp if you use Plex on Android or iOS does it show there?
Just for confirmations sake in the Plex or Mac/Windows desktop app it should show here.
He confirmed it does. But not in the desktop apps.
Your friend should be able to see the download button in the Plex
app (=Plex for Mac).
Which version of that app does he have installed on that Mac of theirs?
I remoted into his Mac and installed it for him as of yesterday. It should be the most recent one. There is NO download button available on the Plex for Mac app.
Can you grab the logs from the app after it starts up
