Server Version#:latest
First off I apologise for not knowing version number or player version. I have installed latest Plex Media Server on my MacMini.
For months and months, PMS has been working fine. It locates the local server and files etc fine. I had to reinstall Mac OSX High Sierra and now when I open PMS in Safari, it asks me to download latest version. I download latest version, place in Applications and start it up. Open up in Safari, same message. I am logged in to my account and don’t have Premium. Plex is looking for local server and cannot find.
However, Plex on my Fire TV stick and Plex on my iPad, locate all the files no problem.
Any ideas whats happening? Did the reinstall of OSX mess up something?
I think it may be a new server version that is buggy. My apple TV and iphone Plex apps all of a sudden can’t see the server. I’m going to try and roll back my server version and then turn off “automatic updates”. If you still have the older installer from the last server version, I recommend unistalling the current server and roll back.
I’m having the exact same experience. The service is running, but no apps, TVs, browsers can find it. Not even on the same machine…
This all started immediately after installing the latest server version.
Can I call you later?
I was able to solve my problem. My employer forced me to install McAfee Firewall software on my computer. It was the firewall that was preventing my connection. I already looked at the native firewall software that is part of the MacOS… but over looked the one my employer had me install. Problem solved.
