I am now, for some reason, unable to access my NAS Plex Music Server after using it with music for several months.
I am getting an error “Playback Error - Please check that the file exists and the necessary drive is mounted”
How are you trying to access your server?
Are you using a Plex client app or the browser version. If you’re accessing your server through the browser… are you using http://app.plex.tv/desktop or the local IP address of the QNAP to access it (http://[QNAP IP address]:32400/web)?
So you can access it, you can navigate through your library but you cannot play anything from the browser.
Do you get the same when using another Plex app (e.g. Plex on Android/iOS/Roku/…)?
Verify that you haven’t moved any of the folders/files with your music on your NAS
Check that plex has permissions to read those folders
if there is a plex user account that is running plex on your NAS verify that is active
All this should be done through your NAS interface. When I Get this error - my media server has lost connection to the network drive. Given this all resides on your NAS I would verify all drives are mounted, that your RAID is not degraded, and finally permissions.
You’re going to need to read up about your NAS device. I have no idea what you have or how you have it setup. Perhaps revisit the plex install guide for your device, that may help. There should be a section in your NAS console for user accounts and then a file manager for permissions.
