Cannot get PlexConnect to work with VPN

Hi guys, i simply cannot get plex connect to work, and i really hope someone can help me out.

 I suspect there are a couple of conflicts but tbh i dont know enough to work it out. It was all working fine on old laptop running vista, laptop was too slow, and so was the router so i bought a new router and ran plex on my slightly better laptop but not had any luck.
Current set up-

ATV 3 with 7.0.2 (11A502) on Ethernet
DNS on ATV 10.183.1.6
Local IP with PlexConnect installed 192.168.0.7 (PMS on same machine)
Win7 32bit Dell Laptop
PMS Version 0.9.7.28
Downloaded Plex connect tonight 28-10-13 from github

when I check the ATV software on my tv it says 6.0 (6646.65) but when plugged in to i-phone config utility it says 7.0.2 (11A502)

All media is on a HDD which is plugged into my d6200 router. (Mains powered HDD)

I run Private Internet Access on the laptop, have mapped server to port 110 or it says cant connect to server.

Plex works on my i pad, and on the laptop, although most of the 1080p's wont play on the ipad for some reason.
I have set up plex connect, with certificate etc all ok, i think.
When i change the DNS on the ATV to that in the plex connect window, i loose internet on the ATV, nothing loads up, and trailers is not available.
There are no changes in the python command window so its not seeing any commands from the ATV.
If i turn off PIA it makes no difference. If i set the DNS on ATV back to auto, all the stuff works as standard but obviously plex isnt there.

So err i'm stuck.

this is my settings.config file
[PlexConnect]
enable_webserver_ssl = True
logpath = .
enable_dnsserver = True
prevent_atv_update = True
port_dnsserver = 53
enable_plexconnect_autodetect = True
port_pms = 32400
port_webserver = 80
ip_plexconnect = 0.0.0.0
certfile = ./assets/certificates/trailers.pem
ip_dnsmaster = 8.8.8.8
loglevel = High
ip_pms = 192.168.178.10
enable_plexgdm = True
port_ssl = 443

Hopefully there is a plex master out there who can fix this for me.
Fingers crossed

What up address are you using in the ATV as DNS?

I see that the log Shows. 10. Address while plex is Ina 192 address. Is the 10 address the VPN provided addy?

Ironicly, after writing my post, the next day it started working. The difference was-1- I had downloaded a newer version of plex connect and -2- instead of closing PIA i just disconnected before starting plex connect. Go figure.

BUT...

I checked it out earlier and everything was spot on, i got half way through a movie and lost the picture, not the sound. Closed and re-opened  but still the same, only sound.

Went back into main menu and found i cant play any of the movies now, the are all present in the menus though.

After a while, i get

errno10053 an established connection was aborted by software on your host machine.

At which point i have to go back to the main ATV menu (black screen) then it just says trailers not available.

So annoyoing man, for a few hours everything seemed ok- what could have changed?

Restart your PC and ATV, if you are still getting an issue post a log please (set log value to ‘High’).

Ok i rebooted everything thismorning and there is deffo something not right. Some films just dont play and then hangs up.  i have to go back to main ATV menu and start again.

 The log was too large for pastebin, i will try again tonight.

Cheers.

Make sure you delete the old log before starting PlexConnect and then only do the minimum buttons presses to recreate the issue.

Ok so i am on the film , click play, resume, and it says an error occurred loading the movie.

Another example, this time i have selected another film, and it is just hanging on 'accessing trailers' screen.

After 5 mins click back, no menus just black screen. get out to main ATV menu and select trailers, 'trailers unavailable'

This one will play for a while, but if i FF i lose the video. It will always resume from 6.20 for some reason.

i wonder if this is because the the HDD is pligged into the router not the laptop and its having trouble accessing it?

Also the films which will play seem to be smaller file size, in general.

any ideas on this one folks?

i tried plugging the HDD into the laptop instead but its exactly the same. Very slow and just times out.

i keep getting error message error no10053 an established connection was aborted by software on your host machine.
