PlexConnect no longer working

Please help:

- Your ATV model (2 or 3) and firmware version (found under the ATV settings > general > about > Apple TV software): ATV3 6.2 (6698.99.50.31)

- The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS): 10.0.1.1

- The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on: 10.0.1.10

- The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on: MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.4

- The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.4

- The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running (do not put 'latest'): 0.9.9.14.531-7eef8c6

- The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: 10.0.1.10

- The PlexConnect version number. If using Github source then a time and date of download (look at the creation date of the folder) and if you are using any non-standard setup e.g. Plexify or a fork: Github Source - Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 9:17 AM

- The contents of your 'Settings.cfg' file (this is created at first clean shutdown of PlexConnect, using CTR+c):

[PlexConnect]
enable_plexgdm = True
ip_pms = 10.0.1.10
port_pms = 32400
enable_dnsserver = True
port_dnsserver = 53
ip_dnsmaster = 10.0.1.1
prevent_atv_update = True
enable_plexconnect_autodetect = True
ip_plexconnect = 10.0.1.10
hosttointercept = trailers.apple.com
port_webserver = 80
enable_webserver_ssl = True
port_ssl = 443
certfile = /Applications/PlexConnect-master/assets/certificates/trailers.pem
loglevel = Normal
logpath = .

- A detailed description of the issue (the clearer you can make this the better): For quite a while, PlexConnect was working for me, but recently my isp swapped my modem and since then, it hasn't worked. My setup previous to the modem swap was a hardwired modem and Airport Extreme. The new modem has a built-in wireless modem that was initially set up to be the main router (which of course would mess up my overall network setup, as well as PlexConnect functionality), but then I got the isp to set new modem to bridge mode instead. Everything else is working fine, except PlexConnect, and I'm at a loss.

- Ensure you post your 'PlexConnect.log' file to pastebin and post the link ('PlexConnect.log' is located in your PlexConnect folder). If possible, follow these steps to create a "more detailed fresh" one: http://pastebin.com/pudFQm1Y

Thanks!

I take it this is a typo?

The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS): 10.0.1.1

everywhere else you have 10.0.1.10

But it does seem that you are not sending any requests to plexconnect, so maybe its just been changed on the ATV

Thanks for the reply.

I have unotelly DNS servers , and a static ip setup. My router is set at 10.0.1.1, while my computer is reserved at 10.0.1.10. When I set my ATV to automatic DNS detection, it shows 10.0.1.1. I tried to change the ATV to 10, but I get a notice on my computer that the address is duplicated. All of this was working at one point, which is really bewildering. I've also attempted to change the settings.cfg file to all variations of my router and computer ip addresses, with no luck. I also removed PlexConnect and Python, and did a new re-install of certificates and PlexConnect. The only thing I can add is that my previous settings.cfg file, I had put my unotelly DNS address as the ip_dnsmaster address. Since that had worked before (for some reason) I tried it again, and still nothing. I don't see errors or anything, just Apple Trailers shows up (which is also why I set an absolute path to the trailers.pem per Paul Kehrer's troubleshoot suggestion.

The DNS IP address son the ATV needs to be 10.0.1.10 so it is pointed to Plexconnect and plexconnect will display instead of apple trailers., The way I read what you just said about Duplicate, sounds like you changed the actual IP of the ATV not the DNS.

If you did a full reinstall make sure you remove3d the profile from the ATV before adding a new one as this will cause issues if you have two.

I just tried to change the DNS of the ATV to 10.0.1.10, tested the network, and the ATV can no longer connect to itunes server. I left the DNS as “…10”, changed the “router” address to “…10”, and still cannot connect to itunes.

You’re correct that I was initially changing the ATV ip to 10, which was giving me the duplication notice.

Oh yeah. When I did a full reinstall of PlexConnect, I did remove the previous fix profile.

well, not sure what I was doing wrong the other day, but today I tried changing the DNS of the ATV to 10.0.1.10, and everything works. Must just be the classic case of I'm-an-idiot.

Thank you for your help, drewbie.
