I had someone check their old Samsung TV and they werenât affected. Your âUA40ES7500â appears to be a 2012 model. Some 2012 and earlier Samsung TV do not support TLS 1.0 and would be affected by the recent change. Are you able to tell what version of the Plex app you are running? If itâs 1.x, then it is affected and wonât work anymore. Plex tried removing support for TLS before and changed their mind. There may be a workaround that came up back then. From the Developers - If there is any news, it's in here!
I have a 2012 model which had exactly the same issue at the beginning of this month, and it is very easy to fix as already reported in some other posts:
In plex on the desktop, in Settings > Network, make sure âSecure connectionsâ is set to âpreferredâ and not ârequiredâ and enter the IP addresses of your TVs in âList of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without authâ.
In Plex on the TV, you want to make sure that in Preferences > System, âUse secure connectionsâ is off.
You also need to enter your PMS IP address (your desktop PC or whatever youâre using) in Plex Media Servers (see the manual if youâre not sure how to do that).
Then of course you should not select âsign in to your plex accountâ since you will not be connected to that account anymore, but instead just connected locally to your server (so that is also the potential - makes no difference for the way I use Plex - downside).
