I think some process priorities may have gotten messed up. This afternoon I told me PMS to create a new TV library that contains all of the folders from my existing TV libraries (one for each decade.) It is slowly performing that task, but I have been unable to play anything – I get a “no playable media” message – and browsing other (already existing and completely ‘up-to-date’) libraries is REALLY SLOW and I often get errors just trying to select an existing library.
When I was setting up my PMS, it took a long time for each library to be added, but I was able to use it immediately for other libraries. This is no longer true. Oh, I added MANY shows at the same time to each library (just like today) because I was installing a new PMS, but using the files and folders from my original PMS learning experiment, so there were no slow conversions causing one episode to be added at a time. PMS from a couple years ago did not allow the library add/metadata fetch to take over the machine – but it is now.
Also, wasn’t there a time when PMS would re-use existing metadata when the same show/movie was added to a 2nd, 3rd, etc. library? The old instructions for moving a movie between libraries said to add it to the new library and wait a bit so that the metadata would be duplicated before removing it from the old. Is that still happening?
