I cannot play audio both through the AppleTV and to other AirPlay 2 speakers simultaneously. While the interface shows them going to the AppleTV AND the remote speakers, ONLY the remote speakers have audio when choosing built-in audio plus remote (AirPlayed) audio.
I assume this is because the Apple TV code is shared with iOS and iPad OS where you CANNOT play both local and remote audio (You cannot say listen to Apple Music on your iPhone AND have it sent to an AirPlay 2 speaker - in fact, I can see no scenarios where you would want to do this lol). However, this is a COMMON scenario with an Apple TV, especially when being used for music or concert videos and the Apple TV going through your stereo.
I do NOT see this issue with any other applications (Apple Music, Pandora, etc), nor do I see this when using Infuse to play video/audio. I assume this is a simple fix and just a simple oversight, but from my research it seems like people have been mentioning it for years, although not quite as explicit in denoting the difference between something you NEVER do on iPhone/iPad and OFTEN do with Apple TV…
Note: Tested ALSO in Beta Apple TV player 7.19 (1585). No change.
