Cannot sign in on android tablet

Server Version#: 1.41.5.9522
Player Version#: Android version 2025.16.0 (966828402) (I assume, this is what my other tablet was on)

I started up the tablet for the first time in a while to prepare for a trip (the last time I used it was before the update for the new experience), and on this tablet, it looks like I was signed out of Plex.

When I try to sign back in, it just sits and hangs on the spinning circle forever.

I tried force closing the app, restarting the tablet, clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and just for good measure, I tried connecting to a completely different network to make sure it wasn’t some odd networking issue.

To be clear, this happens as soon as I press the “sign in” button. I don’t get prompted to enter any credentials or anything else, it just spins after I press the button.

It also spins when I press the “sign up” button in the same way, no form to register or any other sort of signup/login flow.

Any ideas?

(I mentioned this briefly in my other topic, How am I supposed to use the new App experience to watch downloaded content?, but figured this might deserve its own)

I ended up installing the old version of the app and I was able to sign in through that.

The new app will open a browser window to sign into. Some android setting may be preventing it from opening browser. I believe it is called “open links” in system app settings but may depend on version of Android.

I know this does not matter right now since you installed old app.

Ah, good to know. Yeah, this was on a tablet for my kid which is pretty locked down with parental controls, and doesn’t have a browser accessible, so there’s no app configured for opening links.

Not sure how easy it is to tell if you’re in that situation, but maybe some kind of error message would be helpful.

Thanks!
