I’ve got some anime thats been encoded to HEVC. When trying to play it through plex, I can watch the video from the start and it plays perfect. If it try to skip or resume a half watched video it’ll try to buffer but never play.
This works for my windows app which it tries to direct play, or on my samsaung tv which tries to encode it to x264.
Any suggestions that I have the wrong settings? Or is the video just something plex cannot handle?
I don’t know an easy way to cut the file for a sample, but I did get the media info you asked for. I can upload the whole video file to some website if you need it.
I’ve just tried the new Samsung Tizen app preview and I can now skip through the HEVC video with no issue. So, I have to assume it has to be a front end issue?
I still can’t play it on any of my other devices, but the TV for now will have to do.
Oh geez, it’s full of font attachments! Well you’ll never be lacking in subtitles.
Are you watching with subtitles, or the English dub? Subtitles can make everything more complicated, and sometimes “extras” in a file can confuse players.
That encode has some unusual options for Anime, but nothing jumps out at me as “likely to make seek/skip fail”.
Are you happy with watching it on the TV for now? If so I’ll call it good too.
I usually watch anime in japanese with english sub.
The new TV app runs it and I’m more then pleased with that now. I guess its just a waiting game until everything else is updated also. If something doesn’t work then, maybe we can start this debugging process again.
