I recently got a smart TV that has the plex app from a garage sale. I have a plex account, and know how to link the account to new devices, but the person I bought the TV from already has an account linked to this TV. Their admin user is locked behind a pin, so I can’t add myself as a user to the TV, and I can’t figure out any way to just unlink their account from this TV. Unfortunately, I don’t have any way to contact them to see if they can just get their account to forget the device so that I can log in with my account. Is there any way to get the TV linked to my account, or am I just screwed?
What kind of TV / Plex app is this about?
Any chance to wipe Plex from the system and re-install it? If this is an Android TV you should e.g. be able to clear the local app data…
As mentioned above, just uninstall and reinstall the Plex app.
If it’s a Smart TV, these can sometimes cache the old information for a while. Uninstall the app, unplug the TV for a few minutes, re-attach power, re-install Plex app.
