How do I add a tv to plex, currently when I open app on tv, states, ‘’ user does not have access to server . etc etc.’’
That means you did not link the TV to the correct Plex account.
Edit - Sign out and back in. You’ll get a new link code. Make sure you are signed into the correct Plex account before linking this new code.
sign out? of what? plex on Mac or TV?
The Plex app on your TV.
No option to sign out on tv, just loads plex app and states no access to server.
Can you take a picture of the screen? There is always a sign in/out option in the Plex apps.
Tried reinstalling plex, no joy, deleted app and then added again , this gave TV link option, entered code on Mac which said successful, then back to tv and same error message.
Have plex working fine on my other TV [samsung]
Are you sure you were signed into the correct Plex account on your Mac. Double check that you can access your server from the Mac before trying to use the link code.

Shows all my movies on the mac etc.
as you can see tv options are very ltd, only two screens one telling me ‘‘cannot switch user’’ the other option to close the app , that’s it.
Somethings not right. In your image of your Mac, it shows your Samsung TV running Plex app v 3.90.2. That second image of the TV is the old Samsung app (v 2.xxx). That v2 app doesn’t show up in your earlier image so you must somehow be in another account when entering the link code. Can you open your browser in a private window, sign into Plex.tv, then try linking again?
The samsung in the pic of desktop is my other tv , running fine with plex.
Ok, so somehow the linking is not working. Even if it can’t access your server, the app would still show up in that list.
Based on that error, it appears the app is linked to a Plex account, but one without a known server, which still makes me think you were signed into the wrong account somehow. Try using the private browser window like I mentioned above.
Deleting the other account seems to have worked , now have plex working on both TV’s. Thanks for the help .
