A family member of mine is trying to sync a TV show to their Android tablet and it’s returning a very vague and not at all helpful error message, “There is an error with this item”. It plays fine locally and she’s never had any issue syncing in the past. There’s plenty of storage available on the device.
I did Google this error and got results suggesting to update the server so I did and I’m not on the latest version that was released yesterday as of this post. I also checked the player app was up to date and it is. After updating I attempted to sync again to no avail.
Some additional details: The server is being run on my Windows 10 PC, and the device being synced to is a Android Galaxy Tab A.
Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I’ll need the log from the Android app your family member is using after they recreate the issue. That error is a generic one so can’t say what the problem is. Android, Android TV, Fire TV Logs | Plex Support
The error I am seeing is that the app is unable to find the file on your server to download. Can you check if this file exists under your transcode folder?
If the file is not there, it’s possible there is an issue with the file so your server couldn’t generate the transcoded version the app is looking for.
The error is thrown before the files have a chance to sync so I doubt there are going to be any files there but I can check. This is happening to every file, both TV show or Movie.
Also, before I gave you the logs, it started working again for a couple of files when I went to reproduce it, so it’s not as though the server couldn’t transcode the files. And also, I play these files on my own devices just fine through the network and it requires transcoding for that to play.
