Cannot use Plex offline

Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319-c43dc0277
Player Version#: 5.10.0

I’ve been trying to improve my server so that I will be able to stream my movie library on my 2020 Samsung TU7172 Smart TV without an internet connection (don’t want DLNA also) so I checked the enable local network discovery and also listed my IP addresses in List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth.

The problem is that once I disconnect my internet the Plex app on TV will force me sign in via plex.tv/link, no back or skip option whatsoever. However, if there is an internet connection, the app will open just fine, won’t force me to sing in and will even find my library but only if I specify the server IP under manual servers in app settings.

So how do I manage to watch my library on LAN when there is no internet connection?

So, any idea how I would be able to use the app on my TV without an internet connection?

You cannot, unfortunately.
The app itself is not installed onto your TV device. There is only a “downloader” app which fetches the actual app from plex.tv upon launch.
Which means there is no Plex app in your TV without internet.

You will need a device which actually installs the app and connect it to your TV via HDMI cable.
Basically anything based in “Android TV” should be usable.

Understood, thanks for the answer!

Sounds like lie. My samsung tv (tizen based) has plex and it works flawlessly without internet connectivity (with blocked WAN access). But this only applies to 5.10 version and not 5.29.1 where supposedly you completely removed offline mode.
