I have a Plex server with a lifetime license and a bunch of Home users i share the librăriei with. My internet connection failed and to my amazement i can’t use the app any more on my tv. I can connect using any web browser but it don’t seem to be logged in using my account. For the tv though it is not working - I cannot detect the server nor manually enter its IP address. My network is “flat” - all devices see each other, no firewall in between and no traffic filtered.
What kind of smart tv is that?
On some platforms, there’s no locally installed apps but apps are loaded “live” as you access them from the internet (which will obviously fail if your internet is off).
There’s an extensive guide on how to use Plex in environments with bad/no internet – however stuff like signing in to your user will depend on an active internet connection.
It’s a Samsung tv. The app seems “downloaded” as it asks for the Plex credentials. There is no way to enter the server IP which I find bad. Why force the user to use an Internet connection if the server is next door? Just allow me to enter the server IP somehow like it used to work in pre-tizen tv’s and that is it. Just give me the option to do this and mostly everybody will be happy I guess
