Cannot view or record OTA Channel

Hello,

Running version 1.12.1.4885.

I have a problem with one channel - 68.1 in DFW Area (ION) - KPXD. I cannot view live TV, nor do recordings work on the channel. I’ve tried on a test Plex install as well – same issue. When viewing the channel via VLC or via Emby server – it is fine, with no issue. Plex can access other channels for Live TV or recording w/o issue.

Tuners are HDHomeRun EXTEND and HDHomeRun Quatro (separate antennas).

The symptoms on Plex are – it will initially load the first frame of the video, then constantly spins and never actually plays the channel, nor records.

I’ve also uploaded ~11 seconds of the broadcast from the channel based on a similar issue seen in another post here.

Please let me know what other troubleshooting info you might need.

I’ve loaded the latest beta (1.12.2.4929) on my test server. I am now able to get it to record from the channel in question, however - the media video and audio playback is very choppy.

Hi all,

I’ve noticed that this issue has gotten better in the later beta releases, i.e., 4929, 4947, and 4973. I am therefore assuming that Plex is trying to fix.

I have a few updates on the issue:

  • with the new updates, when hitting an HDHR Quatro – the issue seems to be resolved. The only strange entry I get in the logs is ones like these:

Apr 18, 2018 11:44:55.740 [0x7f01adbff700] ERROR - [Transcoder] [mpeg2video @ 0x14f7040] Invalid frame dimensions 0x0.

  • with the new updates, when hitting an HDHR Extend (using “heavy” transcode profile), I’m still seeing audio stuttering, and the following error:

Apr 18, 2018 10:52:09.512 [0x7fe2113ff700] ERROR - [Transcoder] 3589780 frame duplication too large, skipping

If I disable transcoding for the Extend, then I simply get the “Invalid frame dimensions” error in the log and can go from there.
