Can't Access Plex on Android TV Recently

Server Version#: 1.40.0.7996

This was working fine for awhile, but now getting constant Orange Alert Triangles with ! Symbols on my Android TV. I haven’t updated in awhile.

The top is the TV, bottom is my Windows laptop. Rebooting the server and TV didn’t fix.

Here are the logs…

You are using three separate Ethernet connections. Notice how your network is constantly changing, this is caused by the multiple IP Addresses/Interfaces.

You can try setting the IP Address/Interface to use in Plex Settings > Network > Preferred network interface, but that does not always work as expected.

I recommend that you ‘bond’ those connections in DSM Control Panel > Network > Network Interface > Create > Create Bond, so that your NAS/Plex has a single IP address and then try connecting Plex on your TV again.

Oh yeah, I never did anything else with the first two links when I was trying to get SMB3 Multichannel to work, but ultimately couldn’t with my setup. I’ve set up LAG for them now and selected that bond as the preferred in Plex. Strange that it’s worked for many months without issue. But the libraries are back to showing, at least right after changing these settings.

I know you said preferred in Plex doesn’t always work. Is there a way to blacklist the .20 IP in Plex or blacklist Plex from using that IP in DSM? It’s simply a 2.5 gig USB adapter that I connect to my laptop periodically for large file transfers, it usually just sits there with the laptop end disconnected since it’s a pain to disconnect at the NAS with how I am setup. So Plex will never need it.

As for your connections working and then not working, I don’t believe anyone has a suitable, easy explanation as to why that happens, but as you have observed, it does happen.

A real explanation would take volumes to cover.

Rather than trying to blacklist things, which may lead to headaches down the track, why not simply change the IP Address that the USB → Ethernet adapter uses?

Your bonded connection will definitely handle the bandwidth and the connection speed will remain the same as always.
