Since about April, I have not been able to access my plex server through app.plex.tv, which means I cannot use a player like kodi or infuse to access the plex server.
Although I can use win10 player or mobile app to play it, this is still a big inconvenience to my usage.
I also noticed that there are other people in the forum who are having the same problem, and I have asked for help in the forum, but it didn’t solve the problem.

In your case there seems to be some communication issue which is causing the connections to plex.tv to be refused. Did you already verify your router configuration or local firewall/security apps (or similarly the configuration of that docker container – there appear to exist a number of subnets for the docker and LXC on top of the regular local ethernet port)?

You’re having a lot of network issues.
The interfaces keep flip flopping. PMS can’t talk to Plex.tv until you resolve that.
Bad cabling? Loose connector? DHCP server (router) refreshing every ~15 seconds?

But I can access my plex server normally by using “IP: 32400”, and I can watch the video with Win10 player or mobile app from any location without any network problem.
So I don’t quite understand what is going on, if you know what is going on, could you please tell me? Thanks a lot!
It should not be for these reasons, my nas uses a static IP, and I don’t experience network problems when accessing the server in other ways. But still, thanks for your answer.
I’ve seen some people in the Chinese community saying that there is a problem with SSL, but I couldn’t find more detailed instructions, so I hope this will give you a reference.
The errors I’m seeing aren’t related to SSL.
The errors I see are at the physical layer (the connection).
One thing which could be happening is a problem with the ethernet adapter negotiating the speed with the switch / modem-router it’s connected to.
The very specific error I see is the adapter going into “Power Save” mode (0x100)
We normally don’t do this so perhaps the switch/modem-router is and it’s out of control ?

I just tried setting Secure connections to disabled and found that kodi’s plex plugin can now access the plex server when set to allow unsecured connections.
But infuse still doesn’t work because it has no place to set allow unsecured connections. So I guess, I don’t know what’s going on, but something is happening with Secure connections, and when it’s on, other apps can’t connect to the server securely.
But for accessing with app.plex.tv, Secure connections doesn’t work no matter how it’s set up.
- I don’t know Kodi. Never used it.
- I use Infuse. This is interesting because it has no difficulty reaching PMS on the LAN.
Can you try the following for me please?
- With server completely idle (nobody streaming)
- Have Infuse attempt to connect.
- Repeat 2-3 times / as many different ways as you can think. (remove the server & add the server if you need to)
- let it all get quiet again
- Download the logs
- Attach the ZIP so I can compare with mine.
Gosh, I just realized a problem, I used to think that infuse could achieve WAN access to PMS. i have no problem using infuse in LAN environment, sorry for giving you wrong information.
Now setting Secure connections to Disabled solves almost all my problems, but it seems to make accessing PMS using “app.plex.tv” even more impossible.
If I set Secure connections to Preferred, this would prevent me from using Kodi to access PMS in a WAN environment, but whether Preferred or Disabled, “app.plex.tv” would tell me “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to ‘Server name’ securely”.
This hadn’t happened before April, so it really confused me.
But trying to set Secure connections to Disabled has helped me a lot! I probably wouldn’t have done this without your help, so thanks a lot!
On the LAN, you’re FAR better off opening the server via IP / Bookmark in the browser / Pinned server in the app.
Why go outside, do all the work, only to slow the whole process down?
LAN is MUCH faster (unless you have gigabit internet ?)
Because I sometimes access my PMS to watch movies at work or on the subway during my lunch break.
Or I share my PMS with my friends and let them watch my downloaded movies.
So it is very important for me to be able to access PMS remotely.
Remotely – makes perfect sense.
I connected it by signing in to my Plex account and boom - done.
It doesn’t care if local or remote
Get that network to settle down and we can get going on this.
PMS (TCP/IP actually) will keep resetting (terminating) any connections or attempts when the adapter state changes . It’s how the layers of the OSI networking model work.
You really need fix the networking.

Can you look at this new log file again and see if that network problem still exists today?
The immediate error with the adapter is gone however you are experiencing complete loss of connectivity in the logs… which breaks all connections and waits 15 seconds to retry.

I believe the adapter error would have been caused by a community power outage at the time, and now that the power has been restored, this will no longer be an issue.
But I have no clue about this 5am internet problem, I was still resting at that time … not sure what I can do about it, sorry.
