Cant add media

Server Version#:1.20.5.3600-47c0d9038
Player Version#:

I am trying to re-setup my library which was on a Linux server but I am now trying to add to my Mac.

My problem is that I can’t add my media. When I click add media, it asks me to install Mac Plex Server which I am already using. The web version does the same. I saw a service note on it but it asks me to update a config which docent exist on my Mac preference folder.

Any help would be great

Thanks

I suppose you copied some of the preferences over from your Linux server.
To make things work you might need to clear some machine identifiers from those files:

Thanks. I didn’t copy over my settings from Linux, I’m happy to set up a new server but its not letting me add media.

I saw the post regarding being locked out of the server. I tried to follow the steps but I have no com.plexapp.plexmediaserver.plist file in my ~/Library/Preferences/ folder

Did you run the server as a different user on your Mac?

Yes, same result

What do you mean “same result”?
Under what (Mac) user on your machine have you installed/setup the Plex Media Server? That’s where the preferences will be and that’s to what the machine identifier of the running PMS is pointing. You will not be able to change the server as a different user (as in adding media).

I still can’t add any media if I change Plex user but keep the same Mac login and also if I change Mac user login

The question is:
Under what Mac user have you installed the Plex Media Server?
If there’s no ~/Library/Preferences/com.plexapp.plexmediaserver.plist file that implies you either never started / configured that server before or it’s been running under a different (Mac) user.
