Was using PlexConnect on a Jailbroken ATV2 (tethered), loved PlexConnect so much that I upgraded to 5.3 (6105).
Since the upgrade I can't change the DNS settings without the ATV going offline, once I switch the DNS from manual back to automatic everything works again!!
Is PlexConnect running when you change the aTV settings?
Hi Baa, thanks for the reply.
I have the correct IP of the PMS machine on the apple tv, can't access trailers app on apple tv because when the address is changed, I'm only presented with the settings and computers app icons.

I have noticed this before, google dns something doesnt geolocate correctly and for some reason my atv wont activate when using that, so here's what I do, put dns to automatic, boot up normally let it activate so you get all your icons, then after that switch your dns to plex connect, as long as you dont reboot the atv you will be fine.
@Baa as mentioned after the DNS change, I'm only presented with the settings and computers app icons. No trailer app to test PlexConnect. So its not working
@Monsieur Latte tried that and it worked perfectly. All app icons are back with the DNS change and PlexConnect is working perfectly.
Is this an Apple bug or is this intentional to stop people modifying the DNS? Do you reckon there will be a fix for this anytime soon?
I don't see a bug here. If aTV does not have access to the internet, it will only show the two icons (Computer+Settings). If you manually change the DNS, you first kill aTV's ability for this access.
In this situation, PlexConnect is supposed to mimic a.) the DNSServer for aTV b.) the "trailers" server.
My question was not to "test" PlexConnect from aTV's point of view - but to go to your machine and check the terminal output/log files...
