I know why it happens.
The automatic configuration isn’t smart enough to detect which host configuration (usually docker configurations)
I’m looking at adding to the auto configuration tonight.
(Never thought it would be used this heavily)
For those cases it doesn’t recognize the PMS configuration, I’ve created the manual configuration
./UserCredentialReset.sh -p /path/to/Preferences.xml
It will then use the path you give it and operate on that Preferences.xml file
I show the usage example in README.md “Special Usage Cases”
I too was having an issue reclaiming my Plex server after the password reset, sign out all devices, and signing back in. What fixed it for me was upgrading PMS on my Synology to the latest beta version for DSM 7.2.2+ (Lifetime Plex Pass holder) and accessed my Plex instance by it’s local IP on my network, e.g. https://192.168.x.x:32400. It showed as claimed without needing to do anything else.
I did generate a new token at https://plex.tv/claim and attempted to activate it using the http://{plex_server_ip_address}:32400/myplex/claim?token={token} URL prior to the above, but that didn’t work for me, so I’m assuming the steps described above were all that were needed.
It worked! Thank you so much.
All DSM 7+ Synology systems can be reclaimed with the Package file itself.
Here are the instructions.
Let me know if you need additional help
I had this issue too, and I was able to solve it by downloading the Plex app for mac and simply logging in on that. I have access from all my other devices now.
For anyone struggling with this on Unraid and running Plex on docker, the below is what worked for me.
Plex Media Server folder which should be in your appdata (for me, this was /mnt/cache/appdata/plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server)Preferences.xml file and remove the entries PlexOnlineUsername, PlexOnlineMail, PlexOnlineHome and PlexOnlineToken. Remove the entire key/value pair. Thanks to c9house who posted these steps here.
You saved my day !
Thanks
The only fix that worked for me, thankyou!
This fixed my issue too (Ubuntu Linux Server)
For me it was enough to go to http://localhost:32400/web/ and login with my plex account. Since them, the server is accessable again.
This worked perfectly. Thanks!
Folks, NO ONE should have to jump through hoops to get plex working after a password change! While I appreciate all the techy feedback, it does not help me.
I am Plex Pass user running Windows 10 64bit, server and app on same machine. After having zero success claiming my server I completely got rid of everything associated with plex, and then reinstalled everything. Followed all instructions.
Result: Plex runs, All associated Plex Media Server parts run, Media server shows up as authorized device. BUT cannot access EPG. The EPG is what I use the most. Got any suggestions that do not entail alot of techy stuff?
Thanks,.
On top of this password cluster F, they want $75 to renew … I am cancelling and going back to NextPVR.
Insult to injury … LOL … just cancelled and they are NOT prorating a credit for my PlexPass subscription!
So much for “Cancel anytime.”
