Can't claim Plex server on QNAP - 'Not authorized' despite valid token

I’m unable to claim my Plex Media Server on QNAP TS-451+ (QTS 5.2.7.3297).

ISSUE:

  • Plex v1.42.2.10156-f737b826c installed and running
  • Getting “Not authorized” error when accessing web interface
  • Server doesn’t appear in my account at app.plex.tv

WHAT I’VE TRIED:

  • Multiple complete uninstalls/reinstalls
  • Claim codes (multiple fresh attempts)
  • Manual configuration of Preferences.xml with auth token and MachineIdentifier
  • Verified my auth token is valid via API test
  • Opened all firewall restrictions
  • SSH tunnel access

VERIFIED:

  • Network connectivity to plex.tv works
  • Token is valid (tested against Plex API successfully)
  • Plex processes are running
  • Preferences.xml contains: PlexOnlineToken, MachineIdentifier, ProcessedMachineIdentifier, PublishServerOnPlexOnlineKey

The server simply won’t register to my account despite having a valid auth token in the config. Anyone seen this issue on QNAP before?

Server details:

  • Name: LLTCNAS451
  • MachineIdentifier: 43fe06f59eef4138b5a4da2f4bc89a08
  • Platform: QNAP TS-451+, QTS 5.2.7.3297

Try the User Credential Reset utility.

To add to FordGuy,

If you have everything in Preferences.xml already,

Confirm the network settings are correct (DNS and Gateway IP)

FordGuy61… YOU ARE the BEST! I am so happy it worked!!! I spent hours trying to get this sorted and you did it in 30 seconds!! AMAZING and god bless!!! Happy NEW YEAR

Cheers mate, spent hours yesterday and hours today trying to fix this issue and this script fixed it right up

Glad y’all are up and running. All thanks go to @ChuckPa. It is his script, not mine. It has saved me a few times too.

Happy New Year!
