Can't claim server - token is null in xml

Server Version#: 1.40.2.8395
Synology DS920+ running DSM 7.2.1.69057

Hi,

For a few weeks now, I’ve been getting the “you are not authorized” message, after years of running without issue on my DS920+.

Tried a bunch of things, the latest being removing the “online” settings from the Preferences xml file (kept a backup), but I’m now unable to claim the server.

Looking at the PMS log, I see these for example:

May 13, 2024 11:31:28.707 [140153107827512] DEBUG - Request: [192.168.1.65:59984 (Subnet)] POST /myplex/claim?token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx6r6egL (21 live) #a5 GZIP

Looking again at the xml file, PlexOnlineToken is empty.

If I restore the backup of that file, I once again get the “You are not authorized” error.

I’ve search online, including these forums, but haven’t found a solution yet, so hoping someone has an idea.

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Quick addition, I tried the “Uninstall & Reclaim When Reinstalling” steps, but it shows me this at the end of the installation:

If your server can’t talk to Plex.tv (DNS or Gateway) then fix that first.
These are in the DSM Control Panel → Network → Network interface

else

It’s a race condition (when there are no config errors) which is tough as heck to find. (after 2 years). Most cases are that a comm error causes the NULL to get written and lock it up

Hi ChuckPa, thanks for your reply.

The NAS can talk to Plex.tv, no idea why that error is shown. I got this working shortly after posting that screenshot actually. After that reinstallation attempt failed, I went to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms and clicked Remove Server (which I had tried before and hadn’t worked).

This time it did work, and when I went to install Plex again on the NAS, it went straight through, without the “re-claim” option though. After that, it was just a question of setting up the libraries again and then it immediately picked up on all of my media, the DB (so the watched/unwatched data is the same for example), etc.

Weird…

Thanks again for taking the time to reply, appreciate it.
