I’ve moved to a new house and Plex does not work anymore. It used to work perfectly on the old network where I lived but now it just does not work anymore. I only use it locally and I disabled my firewall, followed a lot of troubleshooting steps from a lot of forums/reddit but can’t seem to find a fix.
I can connect locally to the plex app only using localhost or 127.0.0.1 but I can’t log in using my local ip:32400/web, I get “This site can’t be reached”. I already have secured connections to “Preferred” and as mentioned, disabled firewall to try to make it work first without it and figure it out afterwards.
From my PS5 and my phone it just says the server is offline.
I’m fairly new to this stuff, so if you have some troubleshooting steps please be patient with me
Part of the troubleshooting is verifying your network setup.
if my local ip:32400/web doesnt work while 127.0.0.1:32400/web does that means you are not using the correct IP address.
I’m definitely using the correct IP address that’s assigned locally to my server. It’s the same IP from the ipconfig and from the “remote access” tab in the server settings where your IP is shown. What I’m saying is that it used to work in the old house, now it doesn’t. It’s not the firewall either because I’ve tried everything with it off.
New house usually means new ISP.
New ISP usually means new router.
And if your existing Windows server senses that it’s connected to a different router, it will declare its network connection “public”.
This has the consequence that all ports are closed and nothing from the outside (i.e. the local network) cannot get in.
Set the connection type to “private”, to open these ports again.
It works but only on the same PC. And one time it even asked me for a remote pass while trying to use it on the same PC.
In terms of the DNS rebinding protection, I would call myself a noob and don’t really know what that is even with the documentation in front of me Again, I don’t know why it worked before and now it doesn’t and on another PC it works. Do you believe that a windows reinstall would fix my problem somehow?
Does your network equipment consist of only the one router-type device?
Or are there other components in play? Like, another router, or coax-wire bridge, or wireless extenders etc.pp.
There is only one router in the network. Funny enough, I impulsively reinstalled Windows out of frustration and as a last resort because of hours wasted on browsing reddit posts and forums and it actually worked. Now I have a fresh install of Windows and a working Plex server again
