Something has changed in the last few days and I can no longer connect to my local mac mini PMS instance. If I turn on VPN It will then connect and the server will show as ‘remote’. So remote connections are OK, local are not.
Mac Mini running 1.23.4.4775 (beta) though I have rolled this back and still have the issue
Tested with lots of devices on the local network - MacBook, iOS - all seem to be the same. switch to 4G or via a VPN and they will connect remotely. Try on the local wifi or hardwired and I get ‘unavailable’
I’m using a PFSense router but it’s been working for over 12 months, nothing changed that I know of.
I have the manual 32400 port forwarded to my mac minis static IP (not that it should matter for local connections)
I noticed the problem as a couple of nights ago the quality of a show was poor on a hardwired Apple TV 4K - turns out it was using the Plex Relay
Checked my Plex app on my laptop - same deal it was showing the server as ‘indirect’
I turned off the ‘Enable Relay’ and I now cant connect at all.
I’ve tried adding the following toe the PFSense DNS resolver
server:
private-domain: “plex.direct”
I’ve tried adding the IP/Netmask to the Settings>Network>LAN Networks in the server settings
I’ve tried adding the List of IP addresses to the Settings>Network>List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth
I’ve tried setting up PMS on another mac on the same network - this works fine and shows as ‘nearby’
Tried rebooting the PMS & the Mac Mini
Tried rebooting the PFSense and other network switches
I’m going to copy the server data and plist and possibly try a reinstall if I cant come up with any other good ideas!
Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated
update: Just tried a fresh install of PMS on the mac mini (deleted the plist and the application support) and have the same issue
