I am running
Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171 (CentOS 8)
Player Version#: 1.4.1.849-574c2fa7 (MacOS 10)
When on my home network I cannot connect to my server through the mac player app. It says “SERVERNAME is currently unavailable - Verify you have a network connection and that the server is online, or see our troubleshooting tips for further assistance”. I have looked through all of the tips and tried everything I can and nothing works. I am at a loss for how to connect to it. If I need to provide any other details (I just don’t know what to provide) please let me know.
The only way that I have been able to access it is by ssh’ing into the server following this guide. I access it using the localhost and I am on another computer (same network). This is my first time setting it up hence why I am kinda confused.
Both of them are on 255.255.255.0. My laptop is on our modems 2.4 GH band, but the server is running on an ethernet connection to a wifi signal booster (creates its own network). Not sure if this is a problem. I tried connected to the same network, but still had issues.
If that’s correct, running a server on wifi is usually pretty problematic.
Little things like “isolation” settings will block one item from seeing another.
Anything wired can, and always is blocked, if “Wireless Isolation” mode is enabled.
Check there first. Make certain it’s actually Open.
I changed a couple of things. Instead of running via the signal booster I connected it up via PoE. I then plugged that into the switch and am running the server off that. I have tried connecting my laptop via ethernet to the switch (ethernet to USB because I don’t have an ethernet port on my mac) and that did not work either (still server can’t be found message). The only way I can access it is still by ssh’ing into the server and using localhost. I did not mention it (maybe it is actually useful, but I don’t think so), but the server is running on Proxmox - not sure if this messes with connections and stuff.
