Even on files with dolby digital audio?
Anyone else able to confirm that this solves the issue for them?
Yes :)

Great find!
Confirmed.Okay, setting the default subtitle language in the ATV settings (not PlexConnect settings) to none fixed my issue.
Weird....
What parameter is that?
language = en_US ?

Select `off' at Apple TV>Settings>Audio&Video>Subtitle Language.
Ok it's already off, and I still get this buffering issue :(
Buffering issue? Isn't that different? My issue was that my progress bar was completely white and I couldn't pause or FF/REW anymore...

I am still getting the issue. The mix of selecting subtitles and having audio set to Dolby Digital presents the issue. Setting the default subtitle language fixes the playback control with Dolby audio but when I select CC during playback, I get no subtitles and I lose the controls.
Anyone else seeing this with that combination?
CC?
Closed Captions?

With an aTV native file? m4v, h264, ...
Could you please do us a favour and check how this works with Apple's own streaming - like movie in iTunes?
Closed Captions?
Am I mistaken in assuming CC in PlexConnect is the same as subtitles?

It happens with native files as well as other formats. In the Plex settings I have "Subtitle Mode" set to always. In the Apple TV I have the default subtitle set to none. I set the subtitle language to English on the pre-play screen as well. I still get no subtitles.

No. I guess it is the same. And CC is not a PlexConnect idea... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed_captions

Well, I still would like to know if it also "crashes" when playing those native files really natively - using only iTunes and Homesharing.
>>I still get no subtitles.
Subtitles and Plex/PlexConnect is weird, I have to admit... there are some special cases.
- aTV native files, direct streamed: aTV player doesn't do SRT files (well, currently, that is). Subtitles need to be embedded and enabled in the aTV subtitle/audio menu (click and hold SELECT while watching the movie).
- direct streamed files: I have no idea how aTV would/could handle this at all...
- transcoded files: PMS will "burn" the text into the video stream. The controls are the ones provided by PlexConnect, i.e. the button on the PrePlayScreen.
So... it really depends on your media and subtitle files. I know, it's not perfect... we are preparing solutions - currently at least for some of those issues.

Yeah, I know what CC is. I just wanted to make sure if they correlated with each other. Thanks for the clarification.
I'll do some testing with native files and see if the issue presents itself as well as transcoded files to be more precise for you.
Thanks for the hard work. PlexConnect has really made my aTV even better.
WTF,.... so is there any workaround except selecting None for atv's subtitles yet? how is this even possible that the seekbar/pause doesnt work when ATV's subs are set to AUTO?
No idea why it doesn't work, but setting subs to NONE isn't really an issue I would think? It doesn't effect Plex. Maybe it affects Netflix? Or shares movies through iTunes? I don't use either of these, so I don't know.
What's the problem with setting subs to none for you, tcviper?
Netflix and other apps not having subs
Can you not just hold select down to bring up the subs menu on those other apps?
This may well be a PMS-ios7 player issue as it is the native player that is used.
