Plexconnect locking when enabled subtitles

Hello Guys.
I'm having problems with Plexconnect when taking display a 1080p mkv enabling subtitles . The video keeps crashing 5 in 5 seconds . If I disable subtitles the problem disappears . This does not happen for most MKVs to 720p . Already updated the Plexconnect to the latest version that is on Github . Already tried the settings with DirectPlay , and all transcoding options . I'm using Windows 7 with 2GB of memory. I also tried to use ubuntu on the same machine , and the problem continued . My Apple TV 3 is connected via ethernet cable directly to the router . The server machine is that Plex Server is also connected via ethernet cable to the router .
Now the most interesting: using application plex client on my samsung tv , accessing the same machine that I mentioned , I can usually enable subtitles on any mkv video and runs normally. The problem happens only when the apple tv 3 passes through Plexconnect .

Can anyone help ?

If you read the read before posting thread and post all the information it helps with someone assisting you.

I suspect the issue is with transcribing that specific video file (which is why posting the info would help). What format is the video in the mkv, what format is the audio? Are the subtitles embedded or external? Etc etc.

The difference between the Sammy client and ATV is the formats they play natively.

OK, thank you drewbie.

The subtitles as external. And the data information of one of the problem files is :

More information: I had posted that the problem happens in MKV files, but did not mention that it's not just them. I have videos in AVI format, 1080p, that when I enable subtitles also happens the same problem.

Thank you.

Please provide more info in your PMS machine.
If you force transcoding using the desktop client do you get the same issue?

Hello, I tried using the Desktop Client on my PC and everything went normally. I also did a test with the Plex Client on my Galaxy S3 (android) and also on my Ipad, and they all worked well with all videos with subtitles enabled.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

You need to provide the information requested in the sticky, including “High” (note the capital H) logs before anyone can help further.

Ok I'm sorry for the lack of information. Below the complete information ...

Detail on the media file if it is an issue related to playing a media file : above in this post

A detailed description of the issue (the clearer you can make this the better): above in this post

The PlexConnect.log is attached.

That log is huge, can you play the movie for 10 seconds and then stop it so it appears in your on deck, stop PlexConnect, delete the log, restart PlexConnect, play the movie without doing anything else, then stop PlexConnect when you get the issue again.
That way only relevant information will be in the log.

f00b4r,

I did exactly what you asked. I started the movie for 10 seconds, took a break, stopped the plexconnect, deleted the log, rebooted the plexconnect and let the movie giving fought for about three minutes, paused the movie again and stopped the plexconnect.
Attached the new log generated.

Thank you again.

I can recreate something similar - a movie stutters slightly when using subtitles.
We will look into it but bear in mind PlexConnect does not currently have it’s own subtitle renderer and relies on the PMS (not sure if the issue lies there).

How can we explain that without using PlexConnect (directly by a client application from a samsung bluray) the transcoding functions normally?
I did another test here. I changed my notebook. Out instead of my AMD64 Dual with 2GB of memory, put a Intel Core I5 8GB with how Plex Server and also as PlexConnect Server. All films waging previously wore when subtitles now run normally.

The question: PlexConnect consumes much more resources?
Because even on my machine simpler, without using PlexConnect, directly using the samsung client, everything works?

Thank you.

Different clients play files differently and as I said before PlexConnect does not currently have it’s own subtitle renderer so non-ATV compatible subs need to have transcoding by the PMS, it might be the 1080p was stressing your original setup too much.

Can MP4 videos get automatically transcoded IF external srt subtitles are selected since otherwise they are not visible because of absence of subs renderer in plex connect? Alternatively, can we have an option for this until renderer gets implemented, please?

I understand that plexconnect does not have its own subtitle renderer, but one thing is not logical, and I repeat: it is what makes the PMS transcoding of subtitles, so should catch him in any situation? because it crashes only when using plexconnect?

I noticed something interesting. Testing the same movie in ATV3 and client samsung, I realized that:
In the samsung client, the movie runs normally with subtitles and server CPU is at 10% consume.
In the ATV3 PlexTrancoder.exe is enabled and consumes 100% CPU causing the crashes.
Is not there a way to say to PMS plexconnect she should do the transcode without using PlexTranscoder.exe? or some way to reduce this expense CPU?

Thank you.
