I decided to make the sacrifice and try it out... but it seems like the servers are busy or something, because the Update Failed. If I get it to work, I'll report back on whether it's safe.

Only issue so far I encountered is that when you resume videos from earlier then seek bar does not work. Starting a video from start first time works normally like before but videos that you resume don`t. Seek bar is full and showing no progress and seeking is not happening either.
This is great. I was getting the "trailers not available" message before this update. Gave it a try and was happy to find that it works.
no settings for subtitle? i thought it was implemented on beta..
do you need to reinstall any certificates for the https access? or do they automatically carry over?

When updating to new software on ATv3 you don`t do anything else just update the software.

Clarification needed. Does this happen when playing from Plexconnect only or when playing any source (itunes home sharing, for example)?

I have most of them in 5.1 so I tried with a Stereo Mp3 but that did not resume from earlier and started from beginning so I could not test that myself.
I found a temporary solution by disabling close captioning on pre-play screen.
