ok, think I might leave create a new music library for the time being till we have a clearer idea as to what’s happening going forward
Edit.
It might be sensible if Plex provided a bit more information in the Announcements post ‘Important information regarding Premium Music libraries in Plex’
Apparently we should have got a notification email, I didn’t. (and judging by the amount of posts popping up many others did not either)
Have the same issue. Music stopped scanning a few days ago so I tried to recreate the library. Now the library is blank and the scan doesn’t work at all.
Server Version: 1.16.1.1291 (Synology 3617xs)
Media Player Version: 3.100.1 (Windows 10)
I don’t see premium option at all. I can only use local metadata or last.fm…
Also photo autotag stop working for a long time to me…
It seems that the plex pass feature just exist in the newsletter.
I run 3 servers on a Qnap TS-431P, Qnap TS-653B and Windows 10 PC. On the TS-431P (Annapurna) the issue surfaced months ago, then on the TS-653B the ability to create new Premium libraries went about a month ago an now my Premium library is back to basic. On Windows, the Update to 1.16.xxx made the agent disappear from the list of agents AND the metadata Is either no longer read or gone. PlexPass is active. Signing out and back on the servers crashes them immediately on sign in, but they can be restarted, sans Premium music, of course. Plex preview looked like the freefall of Plex software quality might still be stopped, especially after the gruesome train wreck that was the latest big PMP update, but now the doubts have returned.
Same here, cannot create premium music library on Windows 10 Plex Version 1.16.1.1291, and tagging doesn’t work as well as before. I’ve tried all the suggestions on this thread and other in this forum but nothing works.
Well this is a little frustrating. If I create a “last.fm” library will I get the premium features once they are released? I’m looking for volume normalization and so forth, to have that lost is pretty upsetting.
This “solution” is A LIE. I posted to this forum after the announcement about the “Important information” about Premuim music libraries was made public. It’s obvious that Plex removed the PML functionality without telling anyone, on or around the 1st of July. We’ve been spinning our wheels on this thread with “reboot your server,” “post your logs,” and “are you sure you’re signed in?” I mean really!?!
In the mean time, Plex has modified their post with the following:
“Also: Please note that starting July 1, Plex Mix and the ability to create new Premium Music Libraries will be temporarily unavailable. We’re working on some big improvements in these areas as well. New (standard) music libraries will be able to take advantage of these features when they’re available. Stay tuned!”
Everyone in this thread could have been saved from hours of troubleshooting if you had just said this from the beginning.
I was running my current PMS in a jail on FreeNas (freebsd based) when I realised premium music librarys were not available due to gracenote not being available on freebsd.
I decided to get around this problem by setting up a Virtual machine Docker host and a Docker based PMS, I was getting frustrated as after all that setup I still couldn’t create a premium music library, when I came across this thread explaining why.
What I would like to know is if the new premium music features will still be reliant on gracenote, basically wether I will get the features (Plex mix) in my freebsd jail based PMS or if I still need to migrate to the Docker based PMS I have setup.
Oh this pisses me right the hell off. I used Plex Mix all the time and couldn’t figure out why about a month ago it was gone. I just deleted my HUGE Music collection to try and re-add it to see if I could get it back, had they told us this right away I would have saved myself tons of scanning. I just deleted the library AND the docker image I recreated so now it will take forever to get the stuff back and I lost all of my playlists and everything else I am sure. WOW.
I have an existing Plex Premium Music library and since these changes newly added albums aren’t matched anymore.
Plex only uses the tags in the files.
I love how Plex is constantly evolving but removing features before the new functionality is available is not very cool…
I have created a seperate normal (not premium) music library for testing on the same server and the same albums are matched in that library without a problem.
