Active Plex Pass, but missing Premium Music Library Option

I have an active PlexPass.  It shows it in my account information.  But when I go to create a new music library, I follow the steps to a T.  However, after adding the folder for my music, I don't have the option to click Next to go to the Create a premium Plex music library page.  I only have the option to click on "Add Libarary" and it just starts creating the library with no Create page with the Premium music library option.

I have checked and my Plex Media Server is on the latest release.

What operating system are you using and what version of the server do you have installed?

Also check that Plex/Web App has updated itself to 2.4.0 or later  (Settings / web)

Have you installed the update for the server? Should be 0.9.12.0.

Hi I am having the same problem. No way to choose the premium scanner for my music

I am running Windows Server version 0.9.12.0

my web version is 2.4.3

I have a valid PlexPass

Any ideas?

If after you add the folder to the new music library and click advanced / next - it does not ask you to choose between premium and basic but creates a premium library

if instead after you add the folder to the new music library, you click create button it will load the advanced option dialogue and then proceed to ask you if you want basic or premium

You can tell which type it has created by looking at xml from

localhost:32400/library/sections

and seeing what agent is attached to that library section. Premium libraries have

agent="com.plexapp.agents.plexmusic"

I have the same problem...

Running Plexweb 2.4.4 & Plex Media Server version v0.9.12.1.1079-b655370 & I'm connected with my monthly Plex Pass account to the server.

Clicking next http://i.imgur.com/cGnAMqJ.png, after setting folder, I can only press cancel, add library or advanced. Pressing Add library does not show any option to choose between Premium or basic and it justs starts to add the music to the library in basic mode.

I have installed a second plex server but still shows same options as the first server.

The xml shows no libraries created yet

What happens after you Add Folder(s) and click Next?

The 'Create' button should then appear on the left side

It just starts adding music to the library after clicking add library, no other dialogue or Create on the left side.

It has created a basic music library

Was the Plex Media Server signed-in to plex.tv within the Media Manager / Settings / Server / General settings screen?

If it was not signed in then that could explain it

If it was signed-in you can try and get debug logs

So set Debug Logging on the server

Media Manager / Settings / Server / General / Show Advanced and enable Debug Logging

Save changes

Restart Plex Media Server

Then set Plex/Web App Verbose Logging

Media Manager / Settings / Web / Show Advanced / Debug and enable Verbose Logging

Save changes
Create a test library
Capture the Plex/Web App log

Media Manager / Settings / Web / Show Advanced / Debug and View Log

Copy the logs to a text file

Upload here the Plex Media Server.log annd Plex/Web App log text file

Yes, it was signed in and the update channel is set to Plex Pass.

I have signed out and logged in again. Enable both server logs and plex web logs

Added a music library but got no premium or create tab on left side.

The Plex/Web App does not show any logged messages relating to creation of any library

Also the Plex Media Server.log does not show the start up sequence (There was supposed to be a restart after setting debug logging) - or did the log files got recycled (into Plex Media Server.log.1 and .1 into .2 etc) ? The Plex Media Server log only covers 2 seconds - how is that possible?

For the test do a library with very few music tracks so that logs do not wrap round - alternatively zip all the Plex Media Server.log files (.log.1 etc ) so that we can go back to the time when you restarted the server and started to create the library

I notice Plex/Web App detected 2 servers, one on 192.168.1.16 (Mamut) and one on 192.168.1.11 (mamu) - which is the one that you are working on for this test?

Mamu is my ordinary server but since I could not get premium music plex to work I created a second plex server called mamut. Mamut is a complete new install on a Freenas jail.

I suspect my plex account is missing priviliges or something.

Have ziped all logs.

Unsupported Media Server Platforms

As noted earlier, there are a few instances in which the advanced technology from Gracenote is not available for a particular platform and thus it isn't possible to create and use a Premium music library. The following platforms are not supported for Premium music libraries:

  • FreeBSD
  • Synology (PowerPC)
  • Thecus (PowerPC)

This support page shows the supported platforms https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/205041208-Media-Server-Support-for-Premium-Music-Libraries

If the platform is suppotted then the version of Plex Media Server to install is 0.9.12.1 available from plex.tv/downloads

Oh! My bad - I must be tired ;)
It helped installing the newest version ;)

Thanks

Is there a reason that the premium music option is completely disabled on FreeBSD/FreeNAS? I understand if Gracenote is proprietary and not ported to BSD, but I've got this annoying popup every time I go to the home page prompting me to make a premium music library, and I can't. I'm guessing gracenote is the crux of the issue, as it's what the premium agent is based on?

Is this something that Plex can and is planning to fix?

If it's not fixable, I'd really like an update for the BSD build that disables the premium music popup. It's annoying every time I go to my home page. It'd be one thing if I could make the library, but the matching had to fall back to last.fm or something, and I still got the VEVO options and whatnot. But nope. Just an annoying popup.

Is there a reason that the premium music option is completely disabled on FreeBSD/FreeNAS?

Yes, because the premium music only uses the gracenote libraries.

What application are you using that has a popup telling you to create a premium music library?  Using PHT, Plex Web, and Android I haven't received a single popup so if it is something that needs to be looked into, I would need to know where the popup is coming from.

And a standard music library has all of the VEVO options and the additional last.fm features.  The only thing that is missing are things that require the gracenote fingerprinting (Plex Mix/Mood are the main two that come to mind)

I'm seeing it on plex web version 2.4.7, running FreeNAS server 0.9.12.1, all my computers, Chrome and Firefox. I haven't seen it on RasPlex (which isn't working anymore because it can't log in now..), and haven't tried PHT, because I like the web client better, but I wouldn't expect it there. It's the little orange announcement bar near the top of the screen that drops down for the web client.

Ah, I see the VEVO option, and it was on. But I don't get any music videos in my library. That was the main reason I wanted the thing. Hm.
