I am having the same problems finding the audio settings other than the audio language. I do not have a Plex Pass; I’m waiting to solve several problems. I’m using Windows 10, current. Player appears in a web app in Firefox, also the latest version.
– I have downloaded the latest Plex Player whenever the Player Web app tells me to, and PMP updates itself. I am current now, but I still do not see the TV mode icon that appears in the screenshot above. (Seems odd that general audio settings are under TV mode, but I don’t really care if I can somehow find them.)
– I can only get into full screen mode when a movie is playing, through the outward-pointing diagonal arrows icon at the top right. There are no other options there except to select a player (for Plex Pass users only).
– I cannot find the usual app “About” menu option which would allow me to confirm what version of the web app I’m running, but the update notifications and “success” pop-up say that I’m in the current version.
So, can I get to the audio settings somehow? Or if I can’t see the TV Mode option, there’s no other way? Should I download an app from the Google Play story? A comment above says that app is an old one.
If there’s a way, I would appreciate a sequence: Windowed home screen/where to click next and what I’ll see/Settings/Audio Preferences (or whatever it’s called).
I can’t find it either. Not in Windows or in Full Screen mode. At least not a general audio setting. I can find the one next to each video I select. I like Plex’s clean interface, but the audio is too well hidden. Mine won’t stop making this static or popping noise. It sounds like a corrupted file or something but Plex does it on all my videos.
This started about a week ago, before that it was fine.
I wasn’t able to find an AUDIO->SETTINGS function anywhere in the PMP UI. And yes, I have tried the “trick” of placing Plex Media Player in full-screen mode. If anyone has a way to do this inside the PMP, please share it!
In the meantime, I have a work-around for Windows 10 users:
Follow this process to redirect audio from PMP away from the “default” Windows output device, to a specific Windows output device:
Start PMP playing anything (Plex must already be playing something or it won’t be visible as an option!)
Right click the “sound” icon on the taskbar
Select “Open Sound Settings”
Select “Advanced Sound Options”
Choose the output you prefer under “output” to the right of the PlexMediaPlayer item
Thanks! That does the trick!
For reference, the on-screen selection entitled “Device Autoselect device” doesn’t respond to mouse clicks, you have to use press “enter” on the keyboard, then it displays options:
So, with the new player that Plex has been “encouraging” (threatening?) us with for a couple weeks, the ability to change the audio is once again missing.
This DOES NOT WORK on the mac version. I just downloaded the Plex Media Player (I’ll provide screenshots, heck I’ll even provide a video) and it takes you to the exact same version that’s on the Plex “App” for mac, that you get from the Plex downloads area. Made a short little video to show you how and why it doesn’t work. I thought I got a break for second in the video, but nope, still doesn’t work, you’ll see what I’m talking about when you watch it.
