TV - Samsung Smart TV (series 6) - connected to the wireless network
Laptop Hosting the Plex Media Server
WIFI connection broadcasted with a Mikrotik Routerboard Router
Wired connection also available (on same network as WIFI)
A strange thing has happened…
Yesterday I installed VPN software (CyberGhost) - I used the software for about an hour, after which I uninstalled it.
Plex stopped working after that and hasn’t worked since. I have tried almost everything to get it back, with no success. The issue seems to be limited to the Wireless connection only.
The Samsung TV has the Plex App installed. When trying to access the app while the laptop (which hosts the server) is connected to the Wireless network, the TV displays the following error message:
“UNABLE TO CONNECT TO ”
BUT…
When the laptop is connected to the SAME NETWORK but on a wired connection, everything works fine.
As mentioned above, everything was working perfectly prior to installation of VPN software - I could use and connect to Plex of Wireless connections.
Thanks for the reply, I have tried this several times and it makes no difference.
The issue is a bit more general than just PMS - its almost like while on Ethernet, I can see all other devices on network, but the moment I switch connection to Wireless I lose access to all other network devices.
Another manifestation of this issue for example is pairing my Smart TV to Notebook. While I am on Ethernet, no problem, the moment I am connected with WIFI, notebook cant doesn’t see the TV
I don’t have access to the router - I live in a house where the router has been provided by my landlord, so not at liberty to reset it, also already tried to login to the router and it wont let me either…
I have checked the settings in both Ethernet and Wireless, and can confirm that they are in fact on the same Subnet.
I have also just checked the allowed IP/Netmask settings on PMS for TV and not working either.
I will do a bit of research on EOP
This VPN issue is such a nuisance, everything was working perfectly, they should really warn you that the UPnP changes are unilateral and difficult to reverse…
