Can't find PMS even from local host.

This is probably the most common question you get, but for the life of me, I can’t get this back up. I rebooted my plex server and now can not see it from any client. Not local, not remote. Even a browser on that machine. From the local lan I can go to the IP 128.0.1.120:32400 and get plex to come up, but it can’t find that server on that machine. I get another local server and News. (this is on Ubuntu 16.04 and just upgraded to PMS 1.12.1.4885)

I’ve done everything I can think of: restarted plex, re-booted the server, rebooted the router (xfinity provided cisco). I’ve disabled firewall via ufw and ip6tables. All processes appear to be running. I’ve shut down the other server (windows 7 running without external access). I have port 32400 manually forwarded at the router.

Anything else I can try? I can’t get to the server config because I can’t get to the server. Would love to provide logs if you can give me instructions to get them.

thanks in advance

128.0.1.120 is your local IP schema? is the server listed in Devices?

Sorry no, 192.168.0.120. It’s a pretty standard convention. I was just messing with 128’s because I was investigating local host options.

Interestingly, it just got better. Wasn’t working this morning, now (1PM local) it works again. This is the second time I’ve had a plex host problem persist for multiple days and them just seem to fix itself. An Easter miracle?

Plex server works fine on my laptop, and I watch my files from the fire stick on my TV. However, after a day or two when I log in I will get the message that my server is unavailable and after uninstalling, reinstalling a few times in a row I will get it going again. Why does my server become unavailable several times per week?
